This Precision Twist C8R56 reduced shank drill bit set contains 8 high-speed steel drill bits, including inch sizes 9/16" through 1" in 1/16" increments, with a black oxide finish and a 118-degree conventional point for use with drilling machines with a 1/2" chuck to create large holes in ferrous materials. High-speed steel (HSS) provides hardness for wear resistance, and the black oxide finish acts as a lubricant to reduce wear while promoting chip and coolant flow. Commonly called Silver and Deming drill bits, these reduced shank drill bits have a drilling depth of 4 times their diameter and a standardized 1/2" diameter round shank, which enables drills with a 1/2" chuck to create holes with diameters larger than the chuck.
